Tuesday injury report finally came in late, and it's a tale of two teams going in opposite directions. The Lions not only put Terrion Arnold on season-ending IR, but they had FIVE players downgraded from Monday’s practice, including two that may have been aggravated recently. The Cowboys, meanwhile, continue to be healthy and got even healthier with FOUR players upgraded to Full Practice. Cowboys Thursday: Cowboys had three starters upgraded to FP Tuesday, while the rest of the team status remained the same. S Wilson, WR Pickens and DE Fowler were the upgrades. The Cowboys are tracking to be mostly intact on Thursday night. Wednesday: The Cowboys appear healthy, with four guys listed as FP in addition to their two NP and multiple guys with LP. Not seeing anyone of note other than T Tyler Guyton that likely won't go, but injuries can be fickle and flare up on nay play. Lions Thursday: Terrion Arnold went on IR should have been the bad news, but it was the five downgrades from Monday. Included on that list are Sewell and Awosika from no issues to NP and LP respectively along with Joseph, Decker and Zylstra all from LP to NP. The rest of the players' designations stayed the same. There were 14 total flags in this game. Notable Shawn Hochuli and his crew are generally balanced, but flag-heavy officiating in games in 2025 ranking top 3 crews in most categories. Their trend is to penalize the home team with one more flag per game, and they emphasize False Starts, Offensive Holding, DPI, Unnecessary Roughness and Defensive offside's. Both the Cowboys and Lions have these five penalties in their top 7, but Dallas in particular, being the 29th most flagged team in the league, will likely struggle with the Offensive Holding and false start calls in Ford Field. For the Lions, the greater concern is the Defensive Pass Interference, as CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens have drawn tis penalty more than any other duo in the NFL, while the Lions have had one in their favor all year.

In light of this being a short, and very busy Holiday week, we condensed our usually weeks' worth of game posts into this single thread to cover everything about the Packers visiting the Lions today. Game Prediction Tale of the Tape - Matchup Final Injury Report Officiating

Sigh. Gambling Dan showed up against the Eagles and left the Lions on the outside looking in the Playoff standings once the dust settled. The Liosn were the better team on paper and even on the field Sunday night, but the Offense underwhelmed as a slew of old issues popped up again leading to a 16-9 loss. Next stop is Week 12 and back to the comfy confines of Ford Field with the struggling 2-9 NY Giants coming to town. They fired their coach; they have a QB quandary with youngsters and veterans, and they have a roster that isn't quite good enough to compete in the NFC East. They did put a scare in the Packers last week, but the Packers are NOT the same team that beat the Lions in Week 1 and are struggling mightily with injuries and having an identity crisis right now. Everyone laid an egg last week and took an ‘L’, so nothing changed except the tie-breaker points. With the Lions only putting up 9, Brent (7-3; -80), Dan (6-4; -35), Chris (5-5; 9) and Mike (5-5; 13) are still evenly spaced out. Again, everyone is still on the Lions bandwagon, so only the tiebreaker will be impacted for the standings this week. Mike Week 12 has the Detroit Lions (6-4) back home to play the NY Football Giants (2-9). The Giants come in with one of the NFL's worst defenses; they rank 29th overall, give up an average of 375 yards per game and have allowed 35 TD's this year to date. To compare the Lions Offense comes in at No 5 average 366 yds per game and have scored 36 offensive TD's. The Lions STILL have a very potent offense. They Rank 7th in Rushing at 130 ypg and 8th in Passing at 237 ypg. I feel last week was a perfect storm of chaos on Offense, not a norm. However, the Lions do need to figure some things out on the OL for the stretch run. And the Giants will provide a good test with their DL which is very good. The Giants are mid-pack on Offense and have been rushing the ball effectively this year coming in at 124 ypg, and 209 ypg passing. However, the dynamic rookie Jaxon Dart is coming off concussion protocol, and they are without their No. 1 WR Malik Nabers. Things might be hard slogging against a very stout Lions Defense. The Lions bring the #5 overall rated Defense to the field on Sunday. The Lions are 8th against both the Run and the Pass. The Lions give up less than 100 ypg on the ground and 192 ypg in the pass game. Again, Special Teams will play a key here. Of late the ST's have not been up to par. This needs to turn around quick. Coming home, playing a team that is below average and the Lions looking to get back on track bodes well for the Lions to have a very good game. The Lions are 10.5-point favorites. I normally shy away from a bet with a spread that large, however I think we see the opposite perfect storm this week and the Lions win going away. Lions: 31, Giants: 14 Brent The Lions are licking their wounds over the poor offensive performance in Philadelphia. The NY Giants are not the Eagles. Jarod Goff is determined to make amends for the worst performance of his career. Expect a high scoring Lions offense with Jamo, Gibbs, and Amon Ra having huge days. The Lions defense continues to play well despite having three reserve players starting in the secondary. Expect the defense to continue to shine. Lions 45 Giants 17 Chris The formula for a Lions win is simple: run the ball, control the clock, cruise to victory. Against a Giants defense ranking bottom three in every run defense metric, Detroit should feast. New York's front seven can't stop the run, and their offense lacks the weapons to keep pace. No Malik Nabers, shaky quarterback play, and a one-dimensional attack spell disaster against a Lions team that excels at neutralizing running backs in the passing game. This is one of those Ford Field beatdowns where Detroit reminds everyone, they're legitimate contenders. Famous Jameis gets a late garbage TD (after throwing 3 picks). Lions 37, Giants 17 Dan Dome sweet dome. The Liosn went to Philly lasty week and were beaten by a team that simply wasn't better, due mostly to uncharacteristic issues with the offense. This week, the hop is that Campbell recaptures the magic form two weeks ago against Washington, and the Lions absolutely Light up the Giants. Just like last week, this is a mismatch on paper, as the Giants aren’t good at...well.... anything on offense other than running the ball. A good portion of that rushing has been by Jaxson Dart runs, as he has averaged about 50 yards a game against bad defenses, but he didn't clear concussion protocol, so they will rely on Tracy and SIngelton to carry the load. I expect the Lions to focus on keeping the QB (either Wilson or Winston) in the pocket, and let the pass rush get home, as the Giants have given up the 7th most sacks (33) in the NFL this year, including 12 of those in the four games that Winston or Wilson have started. The Lions, though, are better at even that, but the Giants get more Rushing TDs and more YPG, completely offset by their middle of the pack passing game. The bottom line comes down to points scored, and the Lions score 8 more- points per game than the Giants, and that is playing significantly harder defenses. As for Defense, this is where the Giants really suck. Not a single key defensive metric is higher than 19th in the NFL after 11 weeks. The Lions, conversely, are Top 10 in almost every defensive metric and have repeatedly shut down pretty good offenses all season, despite the injuries that have piled up. This week should see the return of Malcolm Rodriguez, even though several other key contributors like DJ Reed, Terrion Arnold and Kerby Joesph won't likely be back until Thanksgiving against the Packers. Bottom line, the Lions will not only win but crush the Giants now that the euphoria of a playing their first game under their interim head coach has waned. Much like the Commanders, with a team coming in with a wounded defense that isn't playing well, and the rookie Dart coming off a concussion, the Lions should freely move the ball at will and Jack Fox will be getting on the field primarily to hold for PATs and FGs. Lions 38, Giants 17

The Thursday report brings quite a few improvements for both teams, but another DB added to the injury concerns for the Giants. Giants Thursday: The Giants also saw some improvements, notably starters Slayton, Payton and Flannigan-Fowles were back to Limited instead of DNPs. All other players stayed the same, apart from Nickle CB Nic Jones, who was added as an LP with a hamstring injury. Wednesday: The Giants have some serious issues in their CB room, as four of their CBs including both starters (DNP) and top reserves (1 DNP and 1 LP) were hindered today. Much of it was for Illness, so they likely will be fine come Sunday. QB Dart is working back from concussion protocol, so being LP means he is trending in. Most of the country will get the IND@KC early and just a handful will get the two late games. FOX has early games of MIN@GB, NYG@DET and SEA@TEN, with late games being PHI@DAL and ATL@NO. There were 7 total flags in this game. Notable Lovely. For the first time this year, the Lions will be getting a crew that officiated a previous Lion's game. Unfortunately, it is the Craig Wrolstad Crew, who officiated the Lions debacle at KC earlier this year, where they threw ZERO flags on the Chiefs and letting multiple instances of blatant issues go unflagged on both teams. The officiating in this game led to the Branch suspension, as they did not flag JuJu Smith-Schuster for his illegal block that led to the altercation as time expired. This was also notable, as the crew went against every tendency, they have had in 2025 with the way the game was officiated, so let's hope they get back to expected norms and don't take it out on the Lions for their own buffoonery. As far as Wrolstad’s penalty tendencies, they once again align with the what the NY Giants are known for committing, with the Giants having all five of Wrolstead's tendencies being what they get called for. Expect to see DPI, False Starts and Offensive Holding called a bit, as the Lions also commit those, but nowhere the rate of the Giants. The Lions will have two of their best going against the Top 2 penalty offenders in Dru Phillips (Nickle vs St Brown) and Jermaine Eluemunor (RT vs Hutch), so maybe this is the week that the Lions actually have a DPI called on the opponent and Hutch gets back into Double-Digit sack production.

Welcome back, Dan Campbell! DC took back the reins on play calling from John Morton last week, and the beast was unleashed, with a resounding 44-22 whupping handed to the Washington Commanders. On to the next team from the NFC East, which is the division leading Philadelphia Eagles and their 7-2 record. However, that record is a bit of smoke and mirrors, as this team has been struggling to patch up holes in their defense all year and are simply not performing at their Super Bowl level caliber selves. When you start to deep dive the stats, especially considering the Lions' resurgence on offense with Campbell running the show. This is an absolute mismatch on paper, with the Lions significantly better in almost all major stats on offense and defense. Throw in that of their seven wins, only one (a 38-20 win against NYG) was by more than one score, and it feels like the Eagles are getting luckier than being good. There is a massive injury discrepancy here, as the Lions are hurting on defense once again and the Eagles are fully healthy, but karma is a fickle lady, and there is a strong possibility that she is going to come for all those a-hole Eagles fans running their mouths all week. The year-long battle for picking superiority didn't change much last week, as expected. Everyone took the Lions, but the tie breaker, should it come into play, does not favor the current leader, Brent at 7-2. His one-game lead is great, but he is off by 51 pts on the aggregate Lions' score, while second place Dan sits one game back (6-3) and is only off by 6 pts. Mike and Chris (5-4) remain two games back, and both are sitting at 24 pts on their tiebreaker. There will either be a tie or Brent pulling away after this week, as three of us believe in Campbell and the Lions, even with the injuries, and one of us doesn't... Mike Week 11 has our Gridiron Warriors heading into the not so friendly confines of Lincoln Financial Field to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. On paper this looks like an easy game for the Lions, but they don't play the games on paper. The Eagles offense is middle of the pack across the board; Saquon Barkley is having a down year for him - 15th in the NFL rushing. However, we all know this team can explode at any time on Offense. The Eagle's Defense is Mid pack as well at 18th and giving up 328 yds per game. They give up 2-9 yds passing and 118 yards rushing. This all looks good for the Lions but as my good friend Brent Crider says: "On any given Sunday". The Lions come into the game trying to hit their stride after a great offensive performance against the struggling Washington Commanders. Head Coach Dan Campbell took over the play calling duties, and the Lions offense looked like the Lions' offense again. Is this a one-time "lucky" shot, or will the Head Coach be able to keep his hot streak going against the Eagles? The Defense is coming off a respectable showing, only allowing 22 pts to the Commanders. Noticeably absent were the Defense Ends/Edge rushers from this game. The Lions did not generate as much pressure as previous games, but was it by design? To try and contain the running of QB Marcus Mariota ?? We will see Sunday Night. The Lions Special Teams were a bit better on coverage but had another FG blocked. They need to tighten things up. Overall these are the 2 most talented teams in the NFC and possibly in the NFL. It will be a tough game for both of us. These are the games that FOOTBALL fans look forward to. Dan Campbell is already pumped up for the game, and I am sure by gametime the players will be as well. In a close game, I am going to go with the Lions. Lions 24, Eagles: 21 Brent The Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles enter this week’s matchup leading the NFC North and NFC Central. The Eagles enter the contest with a full roster and good health and will have a raucous crowd speckled with the well-traveled Lions fans. In contrast, the Lions will be missing 50% of their starting secondary and their Pro Bowl TE Sam LaPorta. This matchup has the Lions winning every statistical category except for total points given up. The Eagles do have a problem with wide receiver AJ Brown posting how bored he is. Make no mistake about it, this Eagles team is loaded with talent on both sides of the football and on any given week, can compete with the best teams in the NFL. However, the Lions have the same level of talent. In matchups like this, the home team can have a distinct advantage. Therefore, most prognosticators are picking the Eagles to beat the Lions. Given the health of the Eagles and the Lions injury situation, does not sway me to select the Eagles. The Lions offense under the direction of OC/DC Dan Campbell, will defeat the Eagles 38 to 35. Lions 38, Eagles 35 Chris The Lions walk into Lincoln Financial Field for a Sunday Night matchup that feels like a playoff preview. The central question: Can Jared Goff win over the middle of the field against the NFL's best coverage linebackers? Philly's Zack Baun and Nakobe Dean own that middle third, but attacking there is Detroit's bread and butter. Goff's 84.4 passing grade in that zone ranks eighth in the league. Meanwhile, the Eagles' run game has been shockingly inconsistent. Saquon Barkley has more sub-three-yard-per-carry games than explosive ones since Week 2, and AJ Brown looks checked out. If Detroit's sixth-ranked run defense can contain Saquon and force Philly one-dimensional, this offense gets exposed. Watch Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis on the interior versus Detroit's line, plus Jaelan Phillips against Penei Sewell on the edge. Those battles decide the game. Goff makes enough plays, the defense holds, and the Lions prove they can win a playoff-caliber game under the lights. Lions 28, Eagles 24 Dan I am thrilled and a bit terrified at the same time as we approach Eagles Week in Philly. I think that Dan Campbell taking over play calls instantly covers up for any deficiencies with the defense (more on that later) as they should be able to be efficient and overcome a deficit the Eagles put on them. Being a hug stats guy, I looked at the teams' rankings and performance and felt this game was an absolute mismatch on paper. The Eagles are worse in almost every statistical Offense and Defensive category you can think of. However, it's a night game, in Philly. Last time the Lions had a Sunday Night Football road night game, the Chiefs and the officials made sure the Lions left with an ‘L’. Back to the stats. The Eagles are all over the place, with a handful of Top 10 passing stats and only Pts against and Passing TDs in Top 10 n defense. Otherwise, they are mostly in the bottom third of the NFL in all the remaining major stat categories. Their Pass defense is doing well, because of their CBs, but they are awful at Sacks and only middle of the pack at Hurries and Pressures. Throw in they blitz only 21% of the time (19th in the NFL) and are one of the worst at defending play-action–passing, and yeah, the Lions Offense has a shot. The Lions Defense, despite a few rough outings and a bunch of injuries, is still top 12 in every major category except Passing TDs allowed. I expect the Lions to be shorthanded in the defensive backfield again with the potential for Joseph, Arnold and Robertson to potentially be out. If so, the pass rush is going to have to be the key and get Hurts to move, while keeping him contained and force him to make bad throws. Offensively, the Lions under Campbell would absolutely be leading the league in most major categories, as they are already no worse than 11th with the vast majority being top 6 despite Morton's inefficient play calling. The Eagles are bottom third, and it sure appears that the Saquon Barkley is wearing out. In his 7 ½ seasons in the NFL, he has 2,043 touches, plus another 773 touches at Penn State in three years. He is on pace for career lows (over a full season) in Yards, YPC and TDs, although he is still a threat catching the ball out of the backfield. I expect the Lions to exceed what they have been averaging with Campbell calling plays, as he has a much better feel for down and distance and setting up the next play than Morton has shown. Bottom line, the Lions will win because they are the better team right now, possibly in a shootout if our DBs aren't healthy. Looking for a moderately high scoring game, putting up close to 40 points again. Lions 38, Eagles 27

Woof. One of the biggest games of the year, and the Lions will be down several starters, with several more nicked up, specifically in the defensive backfield. Of course, Philly is fully healthy, so guess we will need to see the Legion of Whom come back out again and hope that Dan Campbells offensive playcalling will simply outscore the Eagles. Eagles Friday: The Eagles are about as healthy as they have been all year, with their OL and Defense back to 100% with everyone at practice on Friday that was not on a reserve list. Thursday: As expected, the eagles are in pretty good shape physically, as everyone but Starting OL Cam Jurgens was a FP today. Wednesday: The Eagles had a walkthrough after their MNF win at Green Bay, and everyone was listed as either LP or FP. Only item of note is that four of five starting linemen were listed on the report, with only starting LT Mailata having a fully clean bill of health. Lions Friday: Not a great sign for the Lions, as they will be without Terrion Arnold, Sam LaPorta and Kerby Joseph against the Eagles WRs and TEs. Throw in Sewell, Secker, Amik and Wright being nicked up, and we will be trying to survive this game more than win it. O’Connor was finaly put on IR, so that will free up a spot for an activation, likely Rodrigo. Thursday: The Lions saw quite a bit of improvements today, as seven players improved their practice status from yesterday. Hutch and Glasgow were FP, while Decker, Sewell, Vaki, Wright and Saylors were upgraded to LP. O’Connor was the only downgrade, form LP to NP. Everyone else, including Joseph and Arnold, stayed the same. The big issue is that Amik Roberston appears to have hurt his hamstring in practice, so let's hope they are holding him out for caution reasons. Playing the Legion of Whom against Hurts and his weapons will be a bit different than at home against Mayfield and his injured WR corp. Wednesday: Who boy, where to start. The Lions had seven starters on the injury list amongst the 16 players listed today. The bulk of them were NP, with Huth, LaPorta, Sewell, Arnold and Joseph all No Practice. Glasgow and Decker were Limited Practice, along with Saylors and O’Connor. Vaki and Wright were the other NP. The other five players were the folks coming back off the Reserve lists, which saw both Marcus Davenport and DJ Reede joining Rodrigo, Paschal and Frazier as LP players today. Indications are that the injuries to most starters except Joeseph and Arnold are likely temporary, and they should play this week.
