Age: 65
Promoted To Referee: 2008
Last Game: Week 15 2025 ATL @ TB
Last Lions Game: Week 5 2025 – DET 37 @ CIN 24
The Detroit Lions committed 8 penalties for 56 yards. They were flagged a total of 8 times.
The Cincinnati Bengals committed 6 penalties for 30 yards. They were flagged a total of 6 times.
Together there were 14 penalties for 86 yards. There were 14 total flags in this game.

Notable
Carl Cheffers and crew are one of the most heavy-handed teams calling penalties in the NFL after 15 weeks. This will be the second time they have officiated a Lions game this year, also having them back in Week 5 at Cincinnati. In that game, they hit the Lions for 8 (away) and the Bengals for 6 (Home) penalties. Although the Lions and Steelers are both in the bottom third of the league in terms of penalties committed, I have concerns that this may be a flag-fest as this Crew’s tendencies focus on the Line of Scrimmage and the defensive backfield, which doesn't bode well for either DET or PIT, and they each share the same top 5 penalties as this crew in their most called offenses.
