Lions place Branch, Joseph and Conklin on PUP Prior to Camp Opening

After declaring that he wouldn't be going on the list yesterday, Lions S Kerby Joseph was overruled by the Lions training staff and joined S Brian Branch and TE Ty Conklin on the Pre-Training Camp PUP list today as the Lions prepare for Veterans to report on Tuesday.

Both Branch (Achilles) and Joseph (Knee) were expected to be on the initial PUP list, but Conklin (Unknown injury suffered in OTAs) is a bit fo a mystery. Conklin was a full participant in both Weeks 1 and 2 of OTAs, as well as Day 1 of Week 3, but left the Day 2 practice with this unknown injury, which was not believed to be serious at the time.
"Tyler Conklin's absence had no official explanation provided by the Lions, but Justin Rogers noted that Conklin left Wednesdays practice with an injury, although it appears minor based on Campbell not addressing it."
He did not return for the third practice in Week 3 nor either practice in Mandatory Minicamp the following Week, so it won't be until Tuesday that we likely find out the full extent of what Conklin is dealing with.
As a reminder, here is the NFL rule on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, with all three players eligible to cume off at any time during camp, or if it lingers into the regular season, transition them to the Reserve/PUP list where they would miss the first four games of the season:
