Lions Drop 2026 Draft Inside the Den

It has been anticipated for a while that we were wondering if we were going to even see it, but the Detroit Lions came through late yesterday and published their 2026 Draft Edition of Inside the Den.
We won't detail it with a full transcript, as watching one of these is such joy, but we will hit the summary key points and takeaways below.
Key points and Takeaways
Day 1
Blake Miller was always the guy. Lions tried to trade up with Miami at 12 to get him, and Miami declined and ultimately took Kayden Proctor who was widely speculated to the Lions
Holmes confirmed that once LA went QB Ty Simpson, they were confident that Miller was falling to them at 17
Miller held a virtual interview with at least Hank Fraley, and Fraley rapid fires him questions just like you would expect lol
Campbell, Holmes and Sheila were joking about getting their guy and not having to give up a damn thing to do it. (They Tried though)
At the tail end of Night 1, Campbell is seen pointing out to Rod Wood a group of rushers they expect to pull their Rd 2 pick from, and nonchalantly says "I do like Moore a lot"
Separately, Brad Holmes is telling Steve and Sheila that "I think Derrick Moore will be there. Which would be great."
Day 2
Day 2 opens with Campbell telling Steve and Sheila that Derrick Moore is the guy they are targeting
Holmes indicated that he though Moore would be there at 50, but when KC took Oklahoma Edge R Mason Thomas at 40, Holmes started thinking about moving up, checking in with Miami at 43.
Holmes ended up having Dorsey call the Jets and offer 50 and 128 to move to 44 to grab Moore. Holmes said he had multiple 4ths, so went ahead and made the move to not lose out on their top guy
Holmes really liked that Moore went to the Senior Bowl and strung together a great week against top competition. Not only the clip of him putting the OT on his butt, but all the team stuff he just popped.
Moore had an official combine interview with Shep and Kacy Rodgers and Moore said his favorite move he stole from Hutch
At the end of Day 2, Holmes asked his player personnel guys if they would take Abney over Law, and Ray Agnew and Brian Hudspeth said yes, while Dwayne Joseph and John Dorsey said they would take Law over Abney. Holmes said he likes both, foreshadowing the future.
Meanwhile, Don Corzine jumps in and says that he loves Jimmy Rolder, and it was said he won't make it back to round 5 and they need to make a decision on him. Holmes asked for rankings on Halton (DT KC Rd 4 Pk 7/107), Rolder, Abney and Law.
Holmes also randomly says that "Gill-Howard is pretty good too." after asking for the rankings
Day 3
Chargers called about moving up to 118 from 123 for a 6th rounder. Holmes said he would do that if their top guy (Rolder) was gone. Then Chargers jumped right in front of the Lions at 117, and Holmes thought they were going to take Rolder and Holmes was super excited when they took OT Burke.
Rolder had a virtual with Dion-Hamilton pre-draft.
Holmes and Campbell were discussing Abney and Law at the start of Rd 5. They settled on Abney at 157 and Holmes wanted to know cost to move up from 181 to 168 (BUF) to get Law, which Adkins said was one of the 6ths (218.)
Holmes was thrilled they ended up with all three of Rolder, Abney and Law. Thought they could all possibly go in the 3rd.
Apparently, Abney broke his hand against Utah, came back in the game, had surgery on Monday, at practice Tuesday and played in the game on Saturday, so no missed games.
Had a virtual with Townsend pre-draft, and his confidence shown through.
As Rd 6 started, Gill-Howard was their highest rated player left, but they also like Tyre West, with Campbell saying they are different players (both DTs) that serve different roles. Holmes quipped he wouldn't be opposed to getting both of them (foreshadowing again.)
