The Lions decided to take their extra 3rd Rd pick a bit early by engineering a trade with the Indianapolis Colts to move up from 85 to #75 to take OG Jonah Jackson from The Ohio State University. The move cost them their 5a (149) and 6th (182) but they did get back a later 6th (197) . That leave the Lions with one pick in every round still to pick up depth at WR and DT and possibly P.
As for Jackson, he fills a glaring need for the Lions with a young developmental interior OL that could possibly challenge for a starting position during the season. The Lions coached him at the Senior Bowl, and traded up quiet a bit to get him, so they have plans in place.
