Dan Keener is a native Ohioan with a BA in Journalism from The Ohio State University and more than 15 years of contributions as a news and opinion writer across multiple industries. He is a co-founder and currently serves as The Grey Manes Editor-In-Chief (EIC) and is Co-Host of The Grey Manes Podcast.

His background with the Detroit Lions comes from 40+ years of fandom and closely following every move the team has made through the years.

 

Having grown up in rural Northwest Ohio and surrounded by Cleveland Browns fans, he ended up gravitating to the Detroit Lions as his favorite team due to his home being in the Lions blackout and broadcast area. Despite years of inconsistencies, some abysmal on-the-field product but plenty of super-star players, his loyalty to the Lions has never waned, regardless of how well (not very often) or how bad (too often) the Lions ended their season.

Fast forward to approximately 1993, when Dan stumbled onto a group of Detroit Lions fans through a Listserv and found several individuals that he has had the privilege of calling friends now for well over 30 years. This unlikely group of people, brought together by their love of the Detroit Lions, became the seed from which The Grey Manes was ultimately born some 25+ years later.
